Faerlin Taric is a Dragonborn Paladin, and under ‘appearance’ on his charcter sheet I just have “gold dragonborn” and “nice jock himbo vibes” which are really all you need to know but i have terminal yelling brain so! you will learn more

his big sister was the coolest city guard and he always wanted to be just like her, wanted to help the city and do good and be a paladin! his whole life was building up to it! then he got the job and was put as a prison guard instead because someone held a grudge against his sister.

faerlin met Misdemeanor Jones, (oh no i have a brand in throwaway last names) a tiefling who claimed to be unjustly imprisoned. He hadn’t done any crimes, but he was a tiefling and so he was blamed anyway. Faerlin believed, him, trusted him, and he wanted to make things right and so broke Misdemeanor out one night. They shared a kiss, and that was the last time Faerlin ever saw him.

The very next day, the most important relic of the entire nation was stolen, and Faerlin was banished from the only home he ever knew. he went about adventuring, trying to do his best, taking the hits and helping where he could because despite it all he still truly wanted to help people. He wanted to make things right, wanted to be able to go back home someday, and couldn’t see any way other than being an adventurer.

the campaign was an attempt to find a cool magic sword in an ever shifting dungeon that also gave visions sometimes and it was a blast. In the first room he got a vision that involved a coin flipping between a happy and angry face, and when he went down one of the two tunnels he got a vision of Misdemeanor sneaking into the building where the relic was kept. He was so convinced that maybe just maybe the other tunnel might have a vision of a good timeline, if this was the bad one, and made everyone turn around. He touched the wall of the other tunnel and fell unconscious for 4 hours because he was wrong <3 (the dm was not expecting him to galaxy brain and the other tunnel did nothing but after how he hyped it up she had to do something and so she knocked him unconscious and didnt tell anyone why)

At one point, he bared his past to his party, told them the most shameful thing that had ever happened to him (mentioned above), and then one of them threw it back in his face with a joke and he fell big into a bad headspace of ‘the only thing that i can do for them is take the hits’, which led to him immediately touching a cursed rune to see what it would do so people would stop discussing how to deal with it and then getting cursed to be ‘sluggish’ which i RPed as fantasy depression. excellent rp but also took a toll on my own brain ALSKDJF WHOOPS

(fun fact faerlin later got more visions, revealing that the only reason misdemeanor ever stole the relic was because he was threatened, but more importantly, faerlin was threatened. guilt! also misdemeanor is dead rip to a legend)

partway through the campaign, faerlin asked what everyone else would want to do after it was all over, and no one was quite sure but he spoke through me and said he wanted to be a baker because bakers made bread and no one was ever sad if they had bread. and i then had to go ok youre right but time to readjust your character in my head then!!! he ended up asking a lady how yeast worked and my dm got upset because she hadn’t prepared just how much baking science was known in this world alsdkjf

after the end of the campaign he starts up a bunkery (bakery over a bunker) with the rest of the party (minus the one who betrayed them). they give discounts to adventurers who come in and tell stories, and faerlin gets the chance to get better, he gets his curse removed, they got the relic back, but he is able to make people happy which is what is important

also fun fact he didnt have tear ducts and when swapped into someone elses body (a bad time, his fantasy depression on top of losing the one thing he was good for (taking the hits)) the very first thing he did was start crying. my beloved <3

Is your character even a paladin if you don’t have to switch where you write your HP so you don’t wear through the paper
